Welcome to Sundale

Sundale is a neighborhood located in the southern part of Fremont, California. The neighborhood is primarily residential, with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments. Sundale was developed in the 1950s and 1960s, right around the time the city was incorporated and during a period of rapid growth in the San Francisco Bay Area.

It is known for its peaceful, suburban feel, with quiet, tree-lined streets. Although Silicon Valley was not even on the radar at the time, tech companies such as Meta, Lam Research, Apple, Western Digital, Seagate, Boehringer Ingelheim, and ThermoFisher to name a few, have closed in on the area since.

Sundale is located near several major shopping centers, including Pacific Commons (built on 840 acres of the former Fremont Dragstrip/Baylands Raceway Park) which offers a variety of retail, restaurants, movie theaters and big box stores. The Fremont Hub is a walkable plaza with many shops and cafes, supermarkets and clothing stores.

The up and coming Downtown District with newer mixed-use developments, is a short walk away. Just northeast and still a work in progress, Fremont city planners envision a mid-density, pedestrian friendly, transit oriented development, bounded by Mowry Ave, Fremont Blvd, Walnut Ave, and Paseo Padre Pkwy. One of the central streets, the Capital Avenue extension to Fremont Blvd, was completed in 2016, as the city pursues its plans for a Downtown Fremont.

The neighborhood is located near several major shopping centers, including the Pacific Commons (built on 840 acres of the former Fremont Dragstrip/Baylands Raceway Park) which offers a variety of retail, restaurants, movie theaters and big box stores.

The district is also home to several parks and open spaces, including Sundale Park, which offers a variety of recreational amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas. The neighborhood is also located near several hiking trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities.

Overall the Sundale neighborhood located in Fremont, named happiest city in America in a February report from WalletHub in 2023, continues to be a popular pocket for first time buyers in the very competitive Fremont real estate market.
