Welcome to Parkmont

Parkmont is a neighborhood located between Quarry Lakes and Lake Elizabeth in the central part of Fremont, California. The neighborhood is primarily a residential area, with a mix of single-family homes, duets, townhouses, and apartment buildings.

The Parkmont neighborhood was developed in the 1950s and 1960s, right around the time the City was incorporated during a period of rapid growth in the San Francisco Bay Area. The neighborhood is known for its peaceful, suburban feel, and its wide, gracefully laid-out tree-lined streets. With neighborhoods like this, no wonder Fremont was named happiest city in America in a February report from WalletHub in 2023 for several years running.

Anthony Marinelli with The Marinelli Real Estate Team came to know Parkmont when bringing Nicole Herrmann, Realtor, daughter and now partner, to KinderCare for childcare when she was a toddler. Now, Parkmont is also home to Mount Valley Montessori School and known for its fine Elementary School.

Parkmont is host to the historic Shinn House or the “Big House" which was started in 1865 and completed in 1876. It is a rare Victorian Farm Style house with Bavarian influence. Shinn Historical Park and Arboretum can be visited daily to enjoy extensive gardens and Shinn house tours are available.

Having attended Washington High School, Chuck Herrmann, Realtor of The Marinelli Real Estate Team fondly remembers riding his bike with friends through the winding streets or courts that comprise Parkmont and enjoys showing the neighborhood to buyers looking for a great area to put down roots.

The neighborhood is conveniently located near shopping centers, including the Fremont Hub which offers a variety of retail and dining options, not to mention, close to Ciné Lounge Fremont 7 Cinemas. At the edge of Parkmont you’ll also find Washington Hospital as well as Kaiser Permanente.

Its location, near a number of major tech employers, walkable to BART and close to both 680 and 880 make it a perfect commuter location. And local favorite, Peet’s Coffee makes it even better.

Parkmont, known for its family-friendly atmosphere and its strong sense of community is also home to several parks and open spaces, including Shinn Park, which offers a variety of recreational amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas.

The buildings in Shinn park represent three generations of ranch family life. Built in 1876 by pioneer and nurseryman James Shinn, the redwood Victorian ranch house is a treasury of authentic furnishings and memorabilia. The cottage, one of the oldest frame houses in the was built in the 1840s. Surrounding these structures are five acres of beautiful trees, rare plants and shrubs that Shinn collected from all over the world. The park is also dog friendly.

The neighborhood is also located near several hiking trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities such as 11 miles of Alameda Creek Trails. Visit Lake Elizabeth at Central Park about 1.5 miles south and enjoy Land & Water Activities at Aqua Adventure Water Park or a 2 mile walk around the lake.

Overall, Parkmont is a peaceful and family-friendly community, offering a mix of residential, recreational, and commercial opportunities. With neighborhoods like this, no wonder Fremont was named happiest city in America in a February report from WalletHub in 2023 for several years running. It's easy to say that there’s always a demand for Parkmont homes.
