Welcome to Northgate
Northgate is a neighborhood located in the northern part of Fremont, California. The neighborhood is primarily a residential area, with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and a few apartment buildings. Whenever Anthony Marinelli Realtor with The Marinelli Real Estate Team was in the market for a home for his family, he says he always started his search at Quail Run built by Shapell in Northgate. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.
The Northgate neighborhood was developed in the 1950s and 1960s, during a period of rapid growth in the San Francisco Bay Area. The neighborhood is known for its wide, tree-lined streets, which give it a peaceful and suburban feel. By the mid 1980’s larger ‘executive’ homes on large lots started becoming available adding even more to the neighborhood’s allure. The area enjoys a Mediterranean climate with bay breeze cooled evenings making gardens flourish and air-conditioning optional.
Northgate is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and its strong sense of community. Located near several major shopping centers, including Union Landing and the Fremont Hub, residents enjoy a variety of retail and dining options. The neighborhood is also located near several major tech employers, as well as home to a growing number of marquee employers, including Logitech, Novo-Nordisk, Electronics for Imaging (EFI), TE Connectivity, and pharmaceutical giant Boehringer-Ingelheim whose four manufacturing and R&D buildings host over 700 employees.
The neighborhood is also home to several parks and open spaces, including Northgate Community Park, which offers a variety of recreational amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas. Northgate is also located near several hiking trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities such as The Alameda Creek Trails from the Bay to Quarry Lakes to the Niles Canyon Road. Ardenwood Historic Farm nearby is another great day trip for area residents and visitors alike.
Northgate is also located near several major shopping centers, including Union Landing, (built on one of the last Drive-In Movie Theater properties that remained in the area until 1998). Union Landing offers a variety of retail, super markets, restaurants, movie theaters and big box stores. To keep even the most active of us entertained there’s Indoor Skydiving at iFLY.
With Fremont, having been named happiest city in America in a February report from WalletHub in 2023 for several years running It’s no surprise that the Northgate neighborhood is considered a peaceful and family-friendly community. Offering a mix of residential and recreational opportunities along with wide, tree-lined streets, abundance of parks, open space, and its strong sense of community make Northgate homes a popular choice for young families searching for Fremont Real Estate to consider.
