Welcome to Mission San Jose
Mission San Jose is a historic neighborhood located in the southern part of Fremont, California. The neighborhood is named after the nearby Mission San Jose which was founded in 1797 by Spanish missionaries. Mission San Jose is one of the original five townships that make up Fremont today. In 1809 the Adobe brick and redwood timber Mission Church was dedicated, in 1868 it was destroyed by earthquake, and in 1985 the reconstructed adobe church was completed. There is no better example of local pride.
In 1956 five individual townships – Mission San Jose, Centerville, Niles, Irvington, and Warm Springs – came together to form The City of Fremont. The Mission San Jose neighborhood is primarily a residential area, with a mix of single-family homes, some townhouses, and few apartment buildings. The neighborhood was developed in the early 20th century but few homes reflecting the architectural styles of that time, including Craftsman and Mission Revival remain.
Besides just a great place to live, Anthony Marinelli, Realtor with the Marinelli Real Estate Team, has found that the Mission San Jose High magnet program attracts parents to the neighborhood and offers students across Fremont, and from other neighboring cities the opportunity to critically think, communicate, be creative, and collaborate in meaningful ways in and out of the classroom setting. Magnet programs are designed to attract students of different racial/ethnic backgrounds to the area for the purpose of reducing, preventing, or eliminating racial isolation; and/or to provide an academic or social focus on particular themes.
In addition to the historic Mission San Jose, the neighborhood is home to several other historic sites, including the Old Mission San Jose Cemetery, the Jose de Jesus Vallejo Adobe, and the Mission Coffee Roasting Company, which is housed in a historic building that once served as a stagecoach stop.
The neighborhood is also located near several major shopping centers, including the Pacific Commons and the Fremont Hub, which offer a variety of retail and dining options. The neighborhood is also within commuting distance to several major tech employers, including the nearby Tesla Factory.
Obviously, Fremont as a city wasn’t even on the radar when Mission San Jose began its original growth spurt and here it is considered part of Silicon Valley. Tech companies such as, Meta, Lam Research, Apple, Western Digital, Seagate, Boehringer Ingelheim, and ThermoFisher to name a few, are a short commute.
The Mission San Jose neighborhood is known for its significant historic California charm and its strong sense of community. The neighborhood hosts several annual events and festivals, including the Mission San Jose Art & Wine Festival, which showcases local artists and wineries.
No doubt, Mission San Jose being a unique and historic community has aided Fremont to be dubbed ‘Happiest city in America’ in a February report from WalletHub in 2023 for several years running. Offering a mix of residential, recreational, commercial opportunities and host to Ohlone Community College historic Mission San Jose has a strong sense of community and its convenient location make it a popular destination for future residents searching for Fremont Homes as well as visitors. Mission San Jose Homes - a solid investment.
