Welcome to Blacow

Blacow is a neighborhood located in the southern part of Fremont, California. Bordered by Grimmer Boulevard to the north, Stevenson Boulevard to the south, Fremont Boulevard to the west, and I-880 to the east.

Blacow was originally settled by the Ohlone, indigenous people who lived in the area for thousands of years before the arrival of European settlers. In the 19th century, the area was part of a large ranch owned by John Horner, which was eventually sold off and developed into smaller properties.

The neighborhood is named after Thomas Blacow, who owned a large portion of the land in the area in the early 20th century. Blacow was a prominent businessman and philanthropist who played a key role in the development of the neighborhood.

Blacow is primarily a residential neighborhood, with a mix of single-family homes and apartments. The neighborhood is known for its well-maintained homes and tree-lined streets. Blacow Park, located in the center of the neighborhood, provides recreational opportunities for residents, including playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields.

Built on 840 acres of the legendary Fremont Dragstrip/Baylands Raceway Park, Pacific Commons an expansive retail and mixed use development was an important addition to the Warm Springs area supplying a growing population with restaurants, movie theaters, clothing and shoe stores as well as big box stores. The dragstrip was in operation from 1959 until the end of 1988. Even Evil Kenevil performed here.

In recent years, the Blacow neighborhood has become increasingly diverse, with a large population of immigrants recruited for tech jobs from countries such as India and China to name a few. Fremont is also home to a variety of restaurants and shops that reflect its diverse population.

Overall, Blacow is a unique neighborhood with a rich history and a strong sense of community in a growing city. Its mix of recreational opportunities and convenient location make it a popular destination for future residents and visitors alike. With neighborhoods like Blacow, it's no wonder Fremont was voted the happiest city in America in a report from WalletHub in 2023 and for several years running. Fremont Homes - always a solid investment.
